I sure as hell still refuse to take sides in this war -- purism is idiotic, but the vigilantes aren't much better with their hand-holding and rainbows rubbish -- but this upcoming battle sounds like a story I can't not cover. Of course, that's assuming anyone actually bothers to show up, though given how stupid most people in this country are, I wouldn't be surprised if they arrived in droves to get themselves killed. No one will mind the loss of some reckless Gryffindors though -- I certainly won't.

Then again, despite my dedication to honest journalism, I'm not naive enough to run into something like this and assume there isn't a chance of me getting killed myself. I wouldn't do anything ridiculous, but I'm aware things like that happen. I got lucky with the werewolves in Tinworth, but that may not happen again, even if I'll do everything I possibly can to avoid it.

At least Longbottom isn't around anymore to be annoying about this sort of thing. And I still think she and her Resistance Radio friends were behind the Daily Prophet being burned down, so why should I even pay attention to that broadcast anyway?

I never got around to not thanking you for the copy of your book you sent to me without asking if I wanted it first, even though I'm sure you know I would have refused it anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if you sent it entirely of spite.

And despite what your note said, I'll figure out how to destroy it one day. Zacharias Zipporah is teething on the spine right now, and it's also been useful as a doorstop when I want the Wife to be kept up at night by as much noise as possible while I'm stuck on the living room's sofa. I'll be using it as a log in our fireplace next, and if you want to Floo right into the fire while it's burning like a real one, I won't mind at all for obvious reasons.

I don't know if you've seen this already, but 'Tacitus Ward' wrote another article for the Quibbler last night in a special rush edition again -- this time with photographs taken by the Wife, but I never said that or she'll do more than reverse my knees this time. And the problem of Death Eaters coming to kill me, even though I don't have a Pure-blood male heir to carry on the Smith family name yet despite my distaste for purism.

Do you think this one is also going to start a riot, about which I'll then have to write an article in a fit of irony, followed by covering the Ministry's suppression of said riot, and then repeat the process? I suppose it's also ironic that I'm making my real persona look like an idiot for covering Greyback and Pryce's 'rehabilitation' for months, but you'd have to be an idiot to have bought any of that in the first place anyway.

And for the record, in case you're getting ideas, I am still NOT on your side. I care about honesty in journalism, not fighting for whatever it is you're hopelessly fighting these days.

[ WARDED PRIVATE TO PATTY PODMORE AND ALASTOR MOODY. ]
The article about the Ottery St Catchpole riots was printed in the Hogsmeade Herald a few hours ago if you're still interested at all in what the official take on the event is.

However, I just went back to see if there are any important updates, and it might interest you to know that Fenrir Greyback is apparently there now with his 'rehabilitated' werewolves like Pryce. He's giving some sort of speech about how they're there to help the Ministry and to talk to the rioters to calm them down, but that using force is acceptable if and only if anyone attacks them.

I don't know how much longer I'm actually going to stay here though -- I don't believe for a second that Greyback and Pryce are actually reformed after covering their 'treatement' for months and their recent outbursts on the journals, and no one in their right mind would stick around in a village full of rioters that's about to be over-run with werewolves, even if they're 'backed' by the DMLE. But again, I don't know how many people are supposed to be seeing this, so don't you dare tell anyone yet that this is happening right now.
